when you gotta good thing.

A few weekends back i had the pleasure of joining Sharon Clark on a roadtrip to Knoxville, TN to shoot a wedding that was beautiful beyond words. Brittany was radiant on her wedding day; her smile was perfect and didn't leave her face all day. It could not have been more special to spend the gloriously sunny day with this couple with such a truly amazing love story. The wedding colors just so happened to be my favorite colors, and the unique decorations were complemented by the view of the lake and mountains.

This is the first wedding I've ever photographed, and it only reaffirmed everything that i love about photography. I loved finding fun angles to take pictures of details. I loved being able to witness the emotions and excitement that come only on someone's wedding day and being able to capture that on camera. I loved taking unposed pictures of people having fun and dancing at the reception. I loved seeing how Sharon set people up for pictures, and learning how to play with light.

It almost scares me to like something this much, especially since it is completely out of my comfort zone. I talked to Sharon on the drive back about what starting out with photography looked like for her, and so appreciated the encouragement and tips that she gave me. I'm still hesitant to admit that photography might be what I want to do for the rest of my life, because i know i still have so much to learn. But, at this point, simply learning these things is bringing me so much joy, and i think that is an okay place to be.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the wedding:

  1. Hales, these are freaking GORGEOUS. Seriously...you captured this wedding so beautifully. I think we should use some of these detail shots for our walls. Love it : )
