It's not that home is boring, or because a lot of my friends have already left for school. It's not the humidity or the fact that I have to drive everywhere. Nothing about being home is uncomfortable or makes me want to leave, but the time I spent in Colorado was so rich. The community was centered on serving so that high school kids could have the best week of their lives; there is intention behind everything. The fact that we all had the same purpose in mind not only made conversation and interaction easy, but also deep.
After a really hard second semester last year, this summer has been such a time of refilling in terms of trust. I've seen the Lord's power to shake the mountains when I was in Costa Rica, and the way the Colorado rain could wash away our work in just a few minutes. I've experienced the beauty of the mountains at sunrise multiple times. I've sat in cabin time at Rockbridge with my girls and in say-so at the end of each week of camp at Frontier, and I've seen the magnitude of the Spirit's power as high schoolers voiced their decisions to follow Christ. I've seen hearts of stone turn to hearts of flesh (Ezekial 36:26). Seeing God's power in such incredible ways this summer has made trust more effortless, and I'd love to go back to the place where His joy and power were more obvious than ever.
Here are some pictures from the last Friday morning... we went rappelling and then hiked (climbed boulders) to the top of a mountain where we watched the sunrise over the whole valley.
you're amazing
