WOW. What in the world am I even supposed to write about this? I am excited, blessed, squealing, teary-eyed at the fact that my best friend is engaged, although it hasn't yet hit me that she's getting married. I was over the moon that Taylor and I got to fly to Kansas City to surprise Lauren and be there for the actual proposal. I was goofy giddy as we marveled over the ring on her finger, looked at wedding dresses the following day, and I squealed more than average when we took engagement pictures. But holy cow, this so is not about me and my feelings. Lauren and Jordan are so.very.in.love. They mastered the art of letter writing as they embraced long distance for the first bit of their relationship. On Laur's end, there were so many tears of missing her boy, so much excitement for visits, so much giddiness after good skype conversations, so many lessons in humility and creatively serving well, even from a distance. Lauren and Jordan learned to live and play in the same city when Lauren moved to Kansas City last summer. She came back sure that he was it, and oh boy you can believe we prayed even from the beginning that he would be. She described Jordan, even more than Kansas City, as feeling like "home." Jordan is a goof, he is wise, he is a leader, he is creative, and he has fought for Lauren's heart very well. I could think of no one better to marry her. And what better place to meet your husband than on Young Life summer staff, making milkshakes in the snack bar together?
