my home.

And I will continue bouncing from one home to another, loving with everything I have in whatever location I currently reside.
-Katie Davis, Kisses from Katie

Taylor and I have been living in this {very} little apartment space since late August, and I love everything about it. She is the talented hand behind the paintings and beautiful poems on our walls. This is my first "real life" home, the first place I've ever lived where I haven't had some plan for when I'll leave or move or graduate. I like the open-endedness of that.

So many shades of teal & green, a cluttered desk with candy in every drawer, a teeny twin bed that I'll claim as long as possible, and a room full of bright-colored pretties that remind me to play like a child...

get crafty.

Clearly wasn't going to announce this a week ago, but I've been inhabiting the bungalow all alone for the past week. I came into the week with a list of crafts/decorative dreams, and was extra productive in both thrift store hunting and craft making. My week didn't fall short in the kickball, cooking, bubble bath or photoshooting departments, either. :)
night 1: i made/hung these tissue paper pompoms.
day 2: i found these old gross canvases in the garage, cut out the middle, and painted the back. i attached yo-yos, buttons, and other fun things. i found the bottles/vases in the garage. i found the brown chest on the side of the road in july, and just got around to painting it coral and then brown and distressing it.

day 3: i found the frames at goodwill and painted them. i attached the knob to my randompieceofwood. i made another canvas frame thing and tied twine through the middle so i can hang things in it. ideally, i would have used chicken wire and a huge canvas... but that will happen soon. ALSO, i attempted to make something using wood and cute knobs, but my lighter/butcher knife method of cutting wood was quite unsuccessful. :) yes, i'm serious.
day 4: coffee date, thrift store shopping, kickball, cooked dinner for fun people. craftless.
day 5: i painted & distressed this chair for Lauren's desk and i painted more frames for random places around the house, but they're still drying.
it's been a productive, fun, freeing week. oh, and my excitement to see my friends that were studying abroad last semester cannot.be.contained.

happy thursday! :)

no, you hang it up.

A night alone at the bungalow + lots of cute fabric paid off... here's my latest project (that's now hanging in the living room) :)

do it yourself.

In an effort to find anything OTHER than my homework to do, I've spent time painting picture frames (best yard sale purchase. ever.) & fence posts, cutting pages out of magazines and phonebooks, and dreaming of arts & crafts to make our house look pretty. I'd say the bungalow is coming along quite nicely! :)

bungalow.

Well, it's that time again. I'm back in Davidson and the whirlwind of finding classes, speaking foreign languages, and post-summer reunions is back in full swing! I'm now living in a much-awaited dream house (the "bungalow") across the street from campus. The movein and cleanup process has been slow, but the fabulousness of the final product is going to be well worth the work! Here are a few pictures from around the house (thanks Allison for letting me kidnap your iphone:)
